Summary
The Launch of Pegasus on 22nd of May for The Island Trust was an enormous success with a turnout of over 500 well-wishers there to witness the historic event! Libby Purves, Broadcaster and Journalist was onhand to do the honours accompanied on the fiddle by folk superstar Phil Beer!

Details
Diggory and I were awoken at 0600hrs by a large crane and burly workforce to get the party started! It was a beautiful morning and we started it with a mug of very strong coffee! The yard crew got on with the job as we waited for our guests to arrive with the odd radio and tv interview in-between coffees. At midday, there was movement, and then it stopped as they found the correct shackle and tied the laces with double bows. Pegasus was lifted gracefully but with speed to 100 feet, gently dangled over the crowds to the canal side to the awaiting VIP Libby Purves. Pegasus got her heels wet and Libby smashed a lovely bottle of Bubbly against her shiny paintwork. We cheered from the safety of the Severn Shed Balcony, then Pegasus had her first bath. We drank to her health, listened to some words of encouragement and marvelled at the glorious fiddle playing of Phil Beer. Diggory was predictably the first onboard, having elbowed Ed, the Architect out of the way to beat him to it! He slipped a shiny 2008 50p piece at the spot where the mast foot was to be stepped and waited. The mast went in without much hassle and we drank a bit more beer. Then it started to rain! But nothing could spoil our day. The Island Trust presented the lads at The Bristol Classic Boat Co. yard with commemorative beer mugs engraved with the date and their names.
