Summary
The annual ASTO Small Ships race has become something of a grudge match for our skipper, Diggs. This year he came armed with a new boat and a crack racing crew from the Perse School. There were, until this year, ony two boats to beat. Thanks to the efforts of everyone on board, Pegasus has made herself the third and the boys on board are covered with glory!

Details
The ASTO race is like the tall ships race in miniature. In class B there was Jolie Brise and Duet to beat. Pegasus had a lot to show these old ladies about just what youth can do! The day dawned light and fluffy with a promise of gales later! It was going to be interesting. Jolie Brise is a similar boat to Pegasus and Duet also had a party from Perse School. The stakes were high. In the event, due to handicapping and a few tactical errors, we finished third in class. We actually finished second over the line but that is handicap racing! We also gave Jolie Brise a good run for her money, rounding the penultimate mark only one minute behind according to her skipper. Straight out of the box and untuned, think what we might do next year! We also had the privelige of sailing with Ed Femby, youngest crew person in the race and the Pegasus average crew age (19yrs 4 months) was the lowest, winning us the illustrious Bloodhound cup. A real adventure and a great day. The Perse are already hoping to consolidate the promise Pegasus delivered. For more about the race see www.asto.org.uk and for photos see www.tallshipstock.com
